I’m wondering what the average cost should be for a wedding DJ on a Saturday evening for around 6 hours in the suburbs of Chicago or Milwaukee. I know a band costs significantly more, but what’s a good price range for a DJ?
I want to put together a turntable system. I’m planning on buying a 100 watt per channel receiver. How do I correctly match it to a set of speakers? What should I look for in speakers so that they will go as loud as possible without being damaged? Do you look for Ohms? Watts? Do 100 watt speakers match up with a 100 watt receiver or are the power outputs calculated differently? How does that work? What are some good quality brands of turntables (not DJ style) and some good speaker brands? Thank you so much. Any websites would help me out a lot. Thanks again!

This is what im looking at, im getting Dj Hero for sure and for some reason I dont have rockband or guitar hero yet…(how sad i know) well dj hero can be played with turntable vs guitar so that means I might as well get a guitar game package as well. Now correct me if im wrong, rockband 1 comes with a wireless guitar as well as rockband 2. Personally Ive only played rockband 1 and the songs on there are kick ass. Also I have played guitar hero 3 to the completion (LOVED IT) So thats another thing…also I havent played rockband 2 so I dont know if the track list is as good as rockband 1 (if it has all the songs of rock band 1 then im SOLD) So help me out here. Im pretty sure most people will say rock band 2 unless you agree that the track list on 1 is just awesome but all opinions appreciated!
Ok im very good with computers and im one of the top in my school but i love to party. When i am at clubs i pay attention to wut da dj has like equipment wise and stuff. I went to cancun last year and the clubs are nice and i like da djs style down there. What would be the career for stuff like that. I know how to use all of the music software but ive never used a actual turntable in my life except on a computer software but i have created great mixes on it. Please help buz i am a senior in hi school dis year.
Also bought “How To DJ Properly” – waiting for it in the mail. please help.
I have alot of soul/funk/disco and 80s records, with a little bit of house for good measure. Based in Glasgow area.
Instead of using a cd player to mix the music can you hook up a computer to the mixer? And if so what are some good brands of mixers to do this? Also is there mixers that allow you to scratch like a turntable? And one last question what software should i look into buying for my computer to do this? Sorry so many questions.
I want to buy DJ equipment, and I am an absolute beginner. Will someone please tell me, whether buying an amplifier is a must. I am planning to buy 2 turntables, a mixer and speakers. I am curious – how to figure out (given i am offered 2 turntables, mixer and speakers) whether I should also ask for an amplifier.
Thanks in advance.
For a novice dj, what equipment should I start out with? I’d like to start out with classic turntables or a cd turtable set. What do I need to look for? How much am I going to spend? I basically need general advice on what I need.
I’m new to the DJ game and have just gotten interested in DJing. But I’m not sure whether or not I should learn to practice with vinyl. Not only does it seem outdated, but the added costs of turntables and records isn’t cheap. I’ve been told by many people to learn how to mix with vinyl but I’m not sure if it’s worth the time and money. With CD’s in such frequent use, is it really necesary to learn How To DJ with vinyl?
I just went to a concert (bfd) and saw DJ A.M., Mastercraft, and Moby, and I was amazed how much fun it was. Now, I’m interested in getting into DJing as a hobby, but I don’t know where to start or what equipment to buy. What kind of equipment should I buy (i.e. turntables), for a reasonable price and that I can (preferably) play using songs off my computer or mp3 player? And, can I teach myself how to start mixing or is it worth while to take a class on DJing?
ok so im looking on becoming a dj but i’m on a budget what kind of brand turntable should i get and mixer ( and a good cheap brand ) and if you can please put the price range

Hello there!
Im only 15, but I really looooooooove house, trance, techno or whatever you wanna call it! Ive been started with some software programs like Mixxx(im using Ubuntu 8.04 Hardy Heron by the way), FL Studio, Virtual DJ, Acoustica Mixcraft, Ableton Live, Cubase etc. But I would love to start off from by saying that I wanna switch to some Hardware like CD Players or Turntables. But besides the CD players/ Turntables and Headphones, Im not sure what else to get. I would also like to know if its possible to “Tandem” the hardware with Ubuntu. Thanks if you reply!
I’m about to get my first set of turntables and a mixer, but i dont know which type to get. If i get the record turntables i can buy DJ Starscream’s Full Metal Scratch It (Yes, I’ll be scratching to slipknot). But then again, records are really hard to find now.
If i get the cd turntables It’ll be easier to use since cd’s are everywhere. But Full Metal Scratch it doesn’t come in cd form. (atleast i think it doesn’t)
Can someone please help me decide???????
I prefer something that I can hook up to my macbook pro, and put tracks on from my itunes but at the same time the turntables, actually spin, unlike a lot of USB turntables. I am a beginner and have no idea of where to start.
Ive always wanted to, i love music and it just always seemed fun to me. im debating if i want to get into it or not, theres a cheap kit online for like $400 that has 2 turntables and a mixer, headphones and slipmats. So any opinions?
I’m gonna get some basic direct drives – I’d love 1210’s but moneys tight.
I’m thinking of getting Stanton T62’s with straight arm cos I like scratching. Anyone used these?
Another I’m thinking of is Numark’s basic ones – I think they’re TT1562, or something like that.
Both are around £250 mark. Anyone used either and can give me some feedback?
Cheers
I want to start creating mixes with mp3s, and DJing from my laptop, and making my own music. Programs like fruity loops and adobe audacity seem like they are over my head, what should I try what equipment should I buy? I think I need some sort of mp3 editing software, a digital turntable, am I on the right track?
I’m just starting out and i have 2 PAs( one for little gigs and one for big gigs) a laptop, turntables mixer and a cdj system. I play music from multiple sources in my show. Currently doing mostly free or discounted parties to get my name out there, but hoping to get more exposure by doing so. JUst worried if there is a charge i am over looking, like ASCAP or RIAA fees or something that i would need to pay that i am missing. It seems like getting paid the amount that event djs do for mostly owning the equipment and being able to tell what kind of music the audience is having fun with is nuts. i just think there would be more. if there’s not, i guess that’s good, but i wanted to have my basis covered. i would hate to be sued with no way to defend myself.
I have a xbox 360 and a wii and am looking into buying DJ Hero bundle with a turntable. Is one system better than the other for this game?
I am beginning to get more and more interested in DJ-ing and want to invest in some equipment to help me begin. I was wondering whether I should stick with the classics and get a vinyl turntables, or gettin a cd turntable, or even go with a computer dj set. what equipment should i get just to start out, and to save money in case i decide its not for me?
I’d like to buy equipment so I can do computer DJ-ing, but I noticed most of computer controller scratching wheels sizes are small. Is there any computer DJ controller product under $500 with actual size turntable wheel and the latency of actual ‘old-school’ vinyl turntable ?
Thanks.
I’m a DJ and I’m just learning to mix, and I wanted to know if anyone had any recommendations on what cd turntables and other equipment I should get. I need a scratch pad and I dont want to spend more than a grip for both of them.
