I’ve been a scratch DJ for quite some time now, probably 5-6 years on and off. I have also been mixing for about 6 months now. My old setup was one I shared with my older brother and we shared two Technics 1200s and a Rane TTM 56. The problem is that my older brother moved out quite some time ago into an apartment and he’s taking his setup back to his apartment. So being me, I want to get a setup that fits into my budget of $100-200. More specifically, I want to get turntables only right now since my brother had left me an old mixer behind that is still in good shape.
I was looking at the Numark TT1600 MKII and people say that it’s a pretty good one for my situation. I’m thinking of getting it as well, even though it is no Technics 1200, haha.
So basically, I want to buy a set of turntables for around $100-200 and can have the capabilities of mixing AND scratching. What do you guys think? Have any ideas?
Just a question. no real story behind it. my parents think scratching on vinyl turntable destroys vinyls, but my friends think that scratching has no real effect on the vinyl and that’s why DJ’s do it. im not gonna test it out because im not willing to risk any vinyls.
I am going to a music shop at the weekend, i have £200 to spend on a single turntable for scratching and mixing, i want to connect them to virtual dj. There were three i was looking at the Numark TT200, the Gemini TT-O3 or the Stanton T80. Which one should I go for?
I know i need a turntable but do i need speakers or whatever just like list the things i need and i dont have alot of money but i do have access to a music shop
ok so a lil background, i really enjoy listening to scratching and watching dj’s do it, not just the noise but mixing beats and songs all while playing not making beats then listening to them on my computer, although a pc connection would be cool but not needed. i wanna pull back on a record and use my crossfader and volume control knobs and well i think u get it =]
ok so i have a budget of $250 for 1 turntable, ill get a second one after if i get more into it or if i just get the money and im still haveing fun with it. and another $250 for a mixer. but i would rather my whole set be around 400 not 500.
i’ve researched a bit and im looking at either a gemini TT2000 or a similar numark but i’ve come to understand that numark is a newer company and possibly has … lest tested… equipment, i dont wanna waste my time with junk so if a $150 TT is junk and $230 is better thanks for the advice.
im a total beginner and like i said just wanna get into this, so can anyone help me out on what kind of equipment i should get, or what are important specs, ik direct drive is important for scratching more then mixing, and that i need a slippad. are there any other upgrades i shoudl get possibly a better crossfader. ok ima stop talking thanks for any help guys and gals. o and any sites would be nice i’ve been googling but insider knowledge would be alot better.
my friends are starting a band and want me to join. and i dont have any music skills. i can do kinds of music which doesnt involve pressing buttons or string instruments. nothing with fancy combinations, except changing some settings. drums are very expensive and i have no room in my house for them
dj disk scratching doesnt look easy, but it looks like my kind of instrument. so do i need a special machine for this or can i buy a regular turntable and use it. or can i buy one that doesnt use records, maybe uses mp3’s or just makes the noise.
I am getting into DJing and just got two turntables. I am using virtual dj software to use all my music on my computer. i was wondering do you get blank or special vinyl records to put on the turntable to scratch with?? and if so where do i get them. thanks
I use Tha Virtual DJ Program and a BCD2000 Midi Controler.
But when I try to Scratch on my BCD2000 it dosent sound quite like vinal. I planing on geting a turntable to connect to my BCD2000 just for scratching. Whats a good vinyl record that will make good DJ scratching sounds?
I want to start mixing and scratching from home. I have been doing some research online about different types of turntables, mixers and techniques. I came across the all in one DJ In a Box kit, and thought it was a good deal for someone who just wants to pick it up as a hobby. I know that direct drive vs belt drive is better if you want to be a scratch DJ, but is this kit worth buying, or should I spend my money on a single turntable and mixer?
well i have really been wanting to learn how to scratch, but i don’t have 2000 grand to drop on a hobby, but i recently heard about the numark dj in a box battle pack. it reasonable priced but could i use it to learn how to scratch. I don’t plan on going pro but i just love the harmony and art of scratching. So do you know of any setups i can buy for beginners i preferably don’t want to spend more than 350 and an all together package would be awesome. thanks 10 points to best answer
