Trying to price out my set up. Are there any mobile Dj’s or anybody that knows about the game out there that can tell me if I’ll need a Van to transport equipment around. I just have a car now. I use Turntables and Serato. Probably go with 1 amp and 2 spkrs (haven’t got it yet). Do I need subs? No crates so I figure I can jam it all in a car. Can you veterans help me out?
Ok im very good with computers and im one of the top in my school but i love to party. When i am at clubs i pay attention to wut da dj has like equipment wise and stuff. I went to cancun last year and the clubs are nice and i like da djs style down there. What would be the career for stuff like that. I know how to use all of the music software but ive never used a actual turntable in my life except on a computer software but i have created great mixes on it. Please help buz i am a senior in hi school dis year.
I have the Numark 818 Fusion package that comes with 2 turntables & a mixer. Its a really nice set and I’m pleased with it but the only problem is that no one can seem to tell me how to connect to my computer via usb or sound cards or whatever. I’d like to use my turntables on a program I have for my laptop to produce music. I know that Numark just came out with turntables that allow you to do so but I DJ with CDs and those are for vinyl. I love my set and don’t want to get rid of it so if anybody knows a way to use them on the computer without buying a whole new set, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a Dell inspiron 1521 laptop with vista on it, if that helps.
Please by as specific as possible; telling me to connect it with a cord isn’t the anwer I’m looking for. I need to know what kind or like exactly what to do.
Hi, I’m sixteen and deeply involved inside the world of hip-hop and producing it. I really dream of recording these hot tracks with good professional people inside of a good studio, unfortunately i have to wait til i graduate high school to attend recording arts school. And even then I’m not sure about that because I don’t have money, at all. I study music and produce it with everything I have. Now I have a pretty good base of knowledge about producing but I don’t have any money to finance my own dreams. Im thinking of saving up small checks & buying equipment…Little by little… Dreams are dreams… I’m what you call a backpack rapper that can only keep a low budget. Period. Now I need some good pro advice on building the ideal studio that’s cost efficient. Please help… This is what I currently have and my wish list.

Please Help With Suggestions On Vital Necessities That I’ve Left Out, Maybe Scholarships, Own Stories To Inspire On, Leave Me Lyrics [I'm A Credited Emcee/Rapper/Battle Rapper...] Anything You Think Might Help Me Out With This Struggle, Feel Me.
Ok, so I have been observing some people here and there mix songs and beatmatch. I have also listened to some live radio dj mixes recently and I feel this would be a fun hobby for me to start practicing.
So my ideal goal is to be able to be able to transition from one song to the next as if I were DJ’ing at a party. Like being able to play with song intro’s and just let the verse kick in out of nowhere, like this video by DJ Jazzy Jeff:
So my question to you guys is: what equipment do I need to start practicing this style of mixing? All I have currently is a Macbook Pro, so what programs should I use that are Mac compatible? and as far as physical mixers and turntables, what kind should I get?! I heard you can buy some vinyls that are blank and serve to load MP3’s onto them so you can scratch?!
Please, I just need a general list of equipment needed and if possible, some suggestions and recommendations on brands!!!!
Thank You in advance for your response. I will really appreciate it…
Hi I have 2 technics turntables and a numark matrix3 mixer and also a standard mac laptop. I was wondering if there is any DJ software where I can hook up my turntables into my computer and mess with the music with effects and all that. ANY help is appreciated. Thanks
Right now since I am just starting to create my own mixes I need to get a DJM-800 and Akai MPC1000 for fx. Also, I need some type of turntable that goes along with this.
I have a 3rd degree burn on my hand/arm and I was just wondering how long should I Waite before playing the Turntables again .. The turntables are DJ equipment (Scratching music).. By the way I what they call a full-thickness burn. ? A lot of nerves are damaged too … I asked the doctor but dose anyone have an explanation in a way a teen will understand !!!! Thanks
I have Traktor installed, a friend gave me what 2 Numark turntables and a Mixer. What else do i need to set up a full system and be able to start spinning?
I am contemplating whether I should buy an all in one digital DJ system or two vinyl record turntables. If i bought turntables and a mixer what is everything else I would need and how can i set the turntables up to a laptop to run a DJ Software to feed my music? What free DJ softwares are there? How do I get the music? What kind of vinyl records do I need? Ive heard something about like timecoded or something…lots of questions but im learning this is hard and complicated. Thanks for all tips and answers.
I just went to a concert (bfd) and saw DJ A.M., Mastercraft, and Moby, and I was amazed how much fun it was. Now, I’m interested in getting into DJing as a hobby, but I don’t know where to start or what equipment to buy. What kind of equipment should I buy (i.e. turntables), for a reasonable price and that I can (preferably) play using songs off my computer or mp3 player? And, can I teach myself how to start mixing or is it worth while to take a class on DJing?
I have a record collection that I want to save on CD and want to aviod purchasing one of those expensive DJ models.
I also would like to see if there is an outfit that does this kind of work and I wouldn’t need the turntable.
My main problem is that I live in Spain.
I have an HP Notebook with a great music library and want to get into DJing I have a little experience in Clubs and house parties my problem is I’ve worked with other people and now I want to do my own thing and I can’t afford to get a Serato box yet. If a restaurant, club or individual had their own turntable setup but not a serato would I be able to use my music library with it? also I currently have Mixpad audio mixer, wavepad sound editor and Zulu. Thanks in advance
I’m looking at buying some DJ turntables. How do they work? Do you need records to play music or is there a spot to plug in RCA’s to play music off an external device. Do I need records to scratch? On Cd or USB turntables are there records? I heard direct drive turntables are the way to go. Are there any other big things i should know about?

From what I see, DJs use one for playing music and the second to scratch. Im not going to get into DJ-ing too much, just for fun and kicks. My question is, can I use ONE turntable with my Macbook and scratch to the music playing for my Macbook? I see Mixers that include docking stations for Ipods. So again, from what I see, it looks like theres music playing all the time and then only one turntable is used for scratching. So would I be able to mix my own music on my laptop and then scratch to it using my solo turntable? Also, if I do only need one turntable to scratch, would I even need the mixer? Thank you.
I’ve seen people just a really advanced looking stereo but others have turntables and laptops. Can anyone tell me what I need to become a DJ? nothing super pro. im looking to spend less than $1000, i already have a laptop tho. When you write out the list of what I need, can you also give me a little bit of info on what it’s used for? thanks all
I already have virtual DJ on my laptop and I am using a HERCULES DJ CONTROL, so what do I need to move up and start using either real turn tables or CD turn tables
To use turn tables you need records. The only records I have are really old ones that defiantly won’t be god to dance to or mix. Is their some form of electronic version of turntables that you can put music from your computer onto the record or is there some place where you can get records for modern day songs. Or simply am I better off just to get one of those CD players and use them to mix (Although you can’t scratch them…)
some background on me:
i am almost 16 and i want to learn to dj because i love music and parties, and i think it would be a fun thing to do as a hobby and also a great job to have between now and the end of college. I know some of the basics of mixing, beatmatching, effects, and scratching and i am currently practicing on the free virtual dj trial (computer only) and at best buy on their cheap display turntables and mixers until they tell me to leave. My dad is a wedding photographer and he has met a ton of djs over the years and he is trying to get one to let me carry his stuff around for him in exchange for lessons/tips. what i want to know is:
whats the deal with vinyl? is it still a good format choice (it seems like digital is cheeper, easier to store/carry, and more available)
how likely is it that i get a job once i have some experience? i live in the dc/metro area and i would be willing to do almost anything at first
any recommendations on buying my first dj equipment for practice/ birthday parties/ small, low paying events?
thanks so much for your help
