I have a Dell Inspiron 2650 (probably from 2002) running Windows XP home, 512 ram, 80 gb hdd. Due to space constraints, I am considering using a laptop to DJ instead of the conventionals. Is there any way I can set it up on this machine? I am also willing to get a new one, though preferrably something less than $800.

I’ve tried Virtual Turntables software before. It worked pretty well, though I’m wondering if there are better options.

I have the Numark 818 Fusion package that comes with 2 turntables & a mixer. Its a really nice set and I’m pleased with it but the only problem is that no one can seem to tell me how to connect to my computer via usb or sound cards or whatever. I’d like to use my turntables on a program I have for my laptop to produce music. I know that Numark just came out with turntables that allow you to do so but I DJ with CDs and those are for vinyl. I love my set and don’t want to get rid of it so if anybody knows a way to use them on the computer without buying a whole new set, it would be greatly appreciated. I have a Dell inspiron 1521 laptop with vista on it, if that helps.

Please by as specific as possible; telling me to connect it with a cord isn’t the anwer I’m looking for. I need to know what kind or like exactly what to do.

I have been playing around with Virtual Dj on my computer a fairly expensive program, but I really need some hardware to go along with it. I am wondering what kind of entry level mixer and turntable might include some type of USB connection to play through. Thanks.

ok so im 14 gonna be 15 in december. i wanna be a DJ i plan on attending DJ mix academy in 2010. i wanna know if you can be a ipod DJ and use digital turntables. like connecet the ipod to something then to a laptop and digital turntables. so instead of changing the vinyl you can just load it from an ipod, with the ipod stand connected to the laptop so u can search a song on that.

if that makes any sense. and what equipment do i need. i wanna use my ipod for the music and i want to use digital turntables and i think it would b easier to search through my ipod on the laptop.

I have a question for any Disc Jockeys. My 13-year old nephew wants to start DJing with his laptop. I was wondering what are the basic pieces of equipment that are needed? I am wanting to setup 2 Pioneer CDJ 800 MK1’s to my laptop. I want to be able to play my MP3s from my computer and be able to scratch and mix them with this equipment. why does some dj;s use laptops with them? what would be a good set of tables for a biggener?

I am dj-ing tomorrow with a laptop, stereo, and awesome speakers. I know how to hook it all up i am just wondering if there is a FREE program that i could use to scratch and stuff with just the computer keys not an external turntable or mixer? I used Mixxx last time, it works well, but i don’t think you can scratch with it! help please

i was in vegas at a lil club called Moon up top The PALMS. I saw the DJ’s set up. He had 2 turntables a mixer and a mac laptop. i watched him as he mixed through several songs. I assumed he was choosing his music on the laptop, cause he never switched the records that were on the turntables. he was able to control the speed and was able to scratch the song he chose from the laptop on the turntable??? i’m puzzeled. what software? what turntables? can it be done with a pc or just a MAC?
