I am horrible a choosing the right equipment for DJing. I have the skill from mixing on Pioneer turntables but i don’t really have the money to buy anything like that for personal use. I don’t want to buy a cheap piece of junk that will break in a couple of days but i hope i can find a good deal with something i can scratch on.
Thanks for Help
I am looking for a second turntable for my setup I have a Pioneer CDJ-800MK2 and a pione DJM-600 mixer but I need the second turntable/player. I got both of these as gifts but I never realized they were so expensive. Thanx for the help.
Hi I have 2 technics turntables and a numark matrix3 mixer and also a standard mac laptop. I was wondering if there is any DJ software where I can hook up my turntables into my computer and mess with the music with effects and all that. ANY help is appreciated. Thanks
Instead of using a cd player to mix the music can you hook up a computer to the mixer? And if so what are some good brands of mixers to do this? Also is there mixers that allow you to scratch like a turntable? And one last question what software should i look into buying for my computer to do this? Sorry so many questions.
Did the DJs beatmatch, or blend the music like they do today with two turntables or did they just play songs in a radio DJ type style?
Hey im new to DJing and want to get some turntables to practice on and learn to scratch. I dont need anything fancy but was wondering if something liek this is what i need: http://www.zzounds.com/item–NUMDJINABOX its very affordable for me and looks liek its for begginers? if not can someone tell me or reccomend what to use? idk what a belt drive or direct drive difference is?
I have been playing around with Virtual Dj on my computer a fairly expensive program, but I really need some hardware to go along with it. I am wondering what kind of entry level mixer and turntable might include some type of USB connection to play through. Thanks.
Right now since I am just starting to create my own mixes I need to get a DJM-800 and Akai MPC1000 for fx. Also, I need some type of turntable that goes along with this.
So I love music. But I can’t sing or play an instrumet to save my life haha. So I decided I wanna be a DJ. My main influence is DJ AM cus he was amazing at making beats and knowing when to switch songs and i’ve been listening to him since crazy town. My main question is what all do I need since I’m just a beginner. Keep in mind when I say beginner as in no experience scratching. So what are the basics I would need as in turntable, speakers, records etc.
I have Traktor installed, a friend gave me what 2 Numark turntables and a Mixer. What else do i need to set up a full system and be able to start spinning?
For a novice dj, what equipment should I start out with? I’d like to start out with classic turntables or a cd turtable set. What do I need to look for? How much am I going to spend? I basically need general advice on what I need.
Does anyone know where I can find cheap new/ used turntables and DJ equipment??
cheap turntables/ DJ equipment???
Does anyone know where I can find cheap new/ used turntables and DJ equipment(…*besides* the internet though, obviously)???
are there any stores or specialty stores i can go to?
i live in the san francisco bay area
I just went to a concert (bfd) and saw DJ A.M., Mastercraft, and Moby, and I was amazed how much fun it was. Now, I’m interested in getting into DJing as a hobby, but I don’t know where to start or what equipment to buy. What kind of equipment should I buy (i.e. turntables), for a reasonable price and that I can (preferably) play using songs off my computer or mp3 player? And, can I teach myself how to start mixing or is it worth while to take a class on DJing?
A few things. First, I need you to confirm this set up. Tell me if its wrong. turntable connected to mixer, mixer connected to computer. I am going to be using my computer speakers to hear things. No big fancy hundred dollar pro speakers. But Is that set up right? Second, how do i know if the mixer has a preamp? I am buying from the internet so there is no actual checking it out first. Third, is it possible to connect the turntable straight to the computer? No mixer, no preamp?
Just if you need to know, I am going to be using the turntable for scratching. Not just for listening to old records. I want to become a DJ!
I would like to try turntabling using vinyl records as opposed to my cdj setup. Is this possible to be done well with cheap equipment?
I have an HP Notebook with a great music library and want to get into DJing I have a little experience in Clubs and house parties my problem is I’ve worked with other people and now I want to do my own thing and I can’t afford to get a Serato box yet. If a restaurant, club or individual had their own turntable setup but not a serato would I be able to use my music library with it? also I currently have Mixpad audio mixer, wavepad sound editor and Zulu. Thanks in advance
I was a DJ back in the day of, “Two turntables and a microphone,” but I want to get back into the DJ business. I am have a laptop and a home computer and am interested in what type of DJ equipment to get if I want to DJ with my laptop and CDs instead of lugging around the “coffin” with my turntables. I am all for buying used equipment if it is reliable and while I want to go lean and inexpensive that doesn’t mean I want to go cheap and low quality. Any suggestions?
I want to do scratching/remixing and also Club DJing. I want to buy equipment which is good for a beginner but is also good quality. What would you recommend? How much do you usually have to spend? I want to buy CD turntables not Vinyl Turntables, simply because its cheaper to buy CD’S & theyre more portable. What equipment would you recommend to start out? Or if you are a DJ and want to help me out… could you leave your email address? THANKS.
I’ve seen people just a really advanced looking stereo but others have turntables and laptops. Can anyone tell me what I need to become a DJ? nothing super pro. im looking to spend less than $1000, i already have a laptop tho. I have a question for any Disc Jockeys. My 13-year old nephew wants to start DJing with his laptop. I was wondering what are the basic pieces of equipment that are needed? Is it just a mixer, turntable, laptop, and speaker that he needs? And is it possible that he can just use the laptop to DJ without the turntable? What are some good programs to use to DJ using only a laptop, mixer and speaker (minus the turntable)?
hi,
my boyfriend’s birthday is coming up and i want to get him something really special. he’s been wanting to start getting back into being a dj, but hasn’t been able to get new equipment…so i thought that this would be a perfect surprise. the problem is, i’m pretty clueless about the equipment…and only know a little bit from our convos and from reading a bunch of yahoo answers (which i think has made me more confused -_-;). i hope someone can help me!!
- EXPERIENCE: he’s dj’d before (a few years ago) and has stopped. he’s still got his vinyl turntables too so he has some experience.
- HOBBY or SERIOUS: i don’t want to spend like over a grand on this bc even though he says he wants to become a pro dj, i think it might turn out to be more as a hobby..:T
- PRICE RANGE: i’m thinking < $800.
- WHAT I’M THINKING: ok so i was thinking of getting a cdj package for him…like a combo cdplayer/mixer that also can play mp3s/ipod. but i’m not sure whether or not they are good…a lot of people on yahoo answers say don’t get them. but reviews of those equipment on sites like pssl.com have said pretty good things about them. so i have no clue. and i’m mostly looking at numark equipment.
QUESTION: my main question is, should i get a cdplayer/mixer combo for someone who has a bit of experience with vinyl turntables and wants to start again as a hobby possiblyyyy turning into serious (but in a few years later, not now)? if not, what are your recommendations (specifically, brand, name of equip, etc). it can be separate like 2 cd players and a mixer or something like that…but i don’t think i’m looking for vinyl turntables (although i know the quality is way better).
oh, and i also want to get a really nice pair of headphones too.
are these any good?

(sorry for the long read
)
THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
i know nothing about dj equipment but i would like to know because i am getting into it. What is all the equipment you need to make music sound good? and can cd’s be played or can you plug in music from the computer into a dj turn table? and also can you only make the scratching noise into music with vinyl records only or do they sell turntables that don’t need vinyl records to make the scratch noise? like electronic turntables
Thank you.
So i’m going to purchase a standard imac (desktop one, the 1200 dollar one) and I need to get Dj equipment for primarily techno/electronic music, can anyone list suggestions as to what equipment aka, dj software, turntables, keyboard etc etc.
