I want to become a dj was wondering if any club dj’s or anybody who knew one in miami would let me shadow them and maybe show me the ropes around in becoming a dj. I have not really used any turntables but i plan on getting some. I listen to all types of music
I have recently sold my technics turntables and replaced them with pioneer cdj’s. I have transfered all my vinyl to cd, but i cant decide how to organise the new music that i buy.
Should I keep them pretty much a track per cd, have a cd full of tracks, just organised in music style?

Right now since I am just starting to create my own mixes I need to get a DJM-800 and Akai MPC1000 for fx. Also, I need some type of turntable that goes along with this.
I have the software virtual dj but i dont have any turntables or anything and i was wondering what was the best starter package for someone like me! thanks for the help!
As many DJ’s use traditional vinyl turntables for DJ sets, what advice is there for someone who does not have a large collection of vinyl (save for get more vinyl) in the way of playing digital music, I.E. Mp3, WAV, FLAC, etc. files and being able to mix them using something like a traditional turntable. Is there any kind of set up that would allow one to play digital music, from a computer or iPod, and be able to control it using something similar to a standard turntable?
I recently sold my guitar amp and guitars and decided to go with something a little more my style some turntables and a mixer.
Here’s what I’ve got:
2 Technic 1200mk5 Turntables
1 Behringer DDM4000 Mixer
1 Copy of Traktor
Alright now that I’ve told you what I’ve got here’s my question
What do I do now? I have some records that I like, I can kinda scratch and I sort of understand the mixer, but where do I go from here? Around May most of the kids around my town are going to be graduating and I’m hoping to get booked for some parties around then.
Should I buy a digital turntable for CD’s and Mp3’s so that I can get more of a variety of music before then? I don’t really have cash to shell out to get records, and they aren’t all that easy to find in my area.
Any tips or tricks you’d like to share, or helpful advice, send it my way I’m DEFINITELY going to need it!
is djing hard?
How much did you spend all your turntables?
are cd turntables anygood? whats better reg.vinyl tables or cd tables?
where can I get a cheap turntable?
where are some fair priced but possibly cheap vinyl online stores?
where can I buy rock vinyls?
where can I buy a cheap recorder to record my mixes onto cds?
any tips you can give me once i get my turntables?
Yeah, I want to DJ because it looks fun Does anybody have tips for DJing? Also I will be only turntable drumming like Q-Bert.
^In that video is ONLY a turntable required for that? And where is the background music coming from (a machine or something?) Do you just pop a vinyl record into the turntable to remix it? Sorry I’m new
Thanks.
Ok, Ive recently decided (after about a year of producing music) that i think it would be a good idea to learn to DJ to help promote my music and other peoples…Ive been looking around and have come to the decision that ill like to start with a DVS(Digital vinyl system) as i cannot afford vinyl and this would be a great substitute. I don’t know much about DJ’ing at all (Mostly what hardware + software too get).
After looking around some websites i found some software like this,
But i have some questions.
.Would i be able to buy any turntables and mixer and be able to use them with ReLoop?
.Would a need a particularly high spec laptop to use the software with?
Also,
I would find it very help full if someone could post me a couple of links for some hardware and software that would cater for my needs, i have a budjet of around £400-£500 but dont worry about going over it. Im just so lost with it all i dont know where to start!
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Thanks
Aidan
P.S. I would preffer some direct drive turntables but would settle for other options.
ok so a lil background, i really enjoy listening to scratching and watching dj’s do it, not just the noise but mixing beats and songs all while playing not making beats then listening to them on my computer, although a pc connection would be cool but not needed. i wanna pull back on a record and use my crossfader and volume control knobs and well i think u get it =]
ok so i have a budget of $250 for 1 turntable, ill get a second one after if i get more into it or if i just get the money and im still haveing fun with it. and another $250 for a mixer. but i would rather my whole set be around 400 not 500.
i’ve researched a bit and im looking at either a gemini TT2000 or a similar numark but i’ve come to understand that numark is a newer company and possibly has … lest tested… equipment, i dont wanna waste my time with junk so if a $150 TT is junk and $230 is better thanks for the advice.
im a total beginner and like i said just wanna get into this, so can anyone help me out on what kind of equipment i should get, or what are important specs, ik direct drive is important for scratching more then mixing, and that i need a slippad. are there any other upgrades i shoudl get possibly a better crossfader. ok ima stop talking thanks for any help guys and gals. o and any sites would be nice i’ve been googling but insider knowledge would be alot better.
i’m buying a direct drive, not a belt, ….i have done a lot of research and already know pretty much how to use a mixer and turntables to dj trance…but like i said i’m wondering about whats better for the turntable arm…
I have recently purchased a set of turntables and a mixer, and a small amount of vinyl. I live in northern va, I want to find a store that sells vinyl (like beats and acapellas, not just albums), mixers, and other supplies like cables. Anybody know a good place to find that? Also, I just started, and am not really sure what i’m doing. how can I start becoming better with beatmatching and mashups?
Yeah, I want to DJ because it looks fun Does anybody have tips for DJing? And what turntable should I buy that’s $100-$400 (I only want to use turntables because it’s like the main equipment for DJing)?
^In that video is only a turntable required for that? And do you just pop a cd into the turntable to remix it? Sorry I’m new
Plus I’m looking for a How-To DJ guide somewhere. Can anybody give me one?
Thanks.
I’d like to buy equipment so I can do computer DJ-ing, but I noticed most of computer controller scratching wheels sizes are small. Is there any computer DJ controller product under $500 with actual size turntable wheel and the latency of actual ‘old-school’ vinyl turntable ?
Thanks.
This is the final act of my performance at Ringling’s Coffeehouse from January 2008. Basically, I hooked up a Wiimote to my laptop to wirelessly control a turntable program. The Nunchuk attachment allowed me to control crossfading, as that’s integral to any DJ’s arsenal.* Software Used: – Daemon Tools – GlovePie – OTS Scratch Thanks To: – EJohn for the Beats – Chris for the camera – Scott for filming – Cooksey for support – Fans of Audio Experimentation *It’s better to think of my performance as an audio experiment rather than a DJ session. Whatever covers up my lousy crossfading, right?
